DETAILS
This fabric is a twill weave made with 25-count linen yarn. Amid today’s challenges in flax cultivation and the rising cost of linen, sourcing quality material itself has become increasingly difficult. Despite these conditions, this fabric is made with carefully selected flax grown in the Normandy region of northern France, along the English Channel—a region long regarded as one of the most ideal environments for flax cultivation due to its soil, climate, and geographic conditions.
Normandy is known as one of the historic centers of linen production. Today, the region is home to Terre de Lin, an organization that brings together approximately 600 flax farmers and manages 15,000 hectares of farmland. The group is committed to maintaining both the quality and traceability of flax, ensuring a stable and sustainable supply of high-grade linen.
For this fabric, we used Terre de Lin’s premium flax to produce a 25-count twill weave. To preserve the natural luster and texture of the linen, we chose to dye the fabric in the piece rather than garment dyeing. This method allows us to retain the rich sheen and crisp character that are hallmarks of this luxurious material.
The design is based on traditional French workwear. Key features include a stand collar that appears to be added on later, giving a distinctive layered look, and large pentagon-shaped patch pockets sewn along the side seams.
While the body and armholes offer a relaxed fit, the silhouette is kept clean and streamlined by avoiding an overly broad shoulder line. This balance ensures a comfortable yet refined appearance.
