This casual yet refined salopette dress is based on a salopette skirt made from upcycled chino fabric. The chino is produced in collaboration with a long-established manufacturer in Ibara, Okayama, with over 100 years of history. It incorporates recycled yarn blended with linen, resulting in a textured, sustainable chino cloth. The fabric is woven with slightly different shades of natural-colored yarn in the warp and weft, giving the textile a rich, nuanced tone. The contrast fabric features a plain weave made with ultra-fine No. 80 linen for the warp and No. 27 UpcycleLino yarn for the weft, woven in Hamamatsu (Enshu region). It is finished with a traditional Omi-sarashi treatment for a distinctive hand feel. The dress features a voluminous flared silhouette made from this lightweight fabric, and the hem includes an internal drawstring that allows the shape to be adjusted into a balloon-style skirt—offering a subtle workwear-inspired look. The shoulder straps are adjustable with loops, allowing the length to be customized according to height or styling preference. Versatile enough to pair with T-shirts, blouses, or cut-and-sew tops, this piece makes for an easy, throw-on styling option during warmer seasons when outerwear isn’t needed.
