This shirt is made from 100% linen leno weave fabric. Leno weaving is a traditional Japanese technique, also known as karami-ori or twisted weave, where the warp yarns are twisted around each other to create intentional gaps in the fabric. Historically used in kimono textiles, this technique has been studied and utilized in Japan for centuries, particularly for summer garments, as it enhances breathability and provides a cool, airy feel—ideal for Japan's hot and humid summers. In this version of leno weaving, the warp yarns are twisted together in groups of four to create open spaces between threads, contributing to both ventilation and lightness. Combined with the natural moisture absorption and release properties of linen, the fabric offers excellent comfort in warm weather. Due to the nature of the fabric, we recommend caring for the garment by air drying. Tumble drying may cause the spaces between the yarns—formed during the weaving process—to contract significantly, leading to shrinkage and compromising the fabric’s breathable texture and sheer quality, as well as the intended silhouette of the garment. This short-sleeved open-collar shirt features a simple, minimalist design that highlights the quality of the fabric. With a relaxed fit and a cropped length, it pairs well with high-rise bottoms and offers a balanced silhouette. It can be worn as a statement top or styled as a lightweight outer layer. Fastening the top button transforms the neckline into a stand collar, giving the piece added versatility.
