This over-sized cardigan makes the most of the properties of linen and wool yarns.
The small, slightly tight basket weave gives it a classic texture. The oversized, boxy fit from shoulders to hem and a roomy silhouette all the way to the cuffs create a beautiful drape thanks to the looseness of the knit and the overall weight, resulting in an impressive cardigan.
The knit is made using a technique called plating, which gives the front a linen texture and the back a wool texture. The medium-white linen yarn is a distinctive feature, giving it a sheen and crispness typical of linen, while allowing glimpses of the white yarn underneath. The wool fuzz adds depth to the color and texture.
While the front has a linen-like texture, the back has a wool-like texture. Its soft feel allows it to effectively regulate body moisture and temperature despite its thinness and lightness. Please note that men's items cannot be hand-washed due to the nature of the unshrunk wool used. While it is said that only about 1% of knitwear in the domestic knitwear market is made in Japan, this "made in Japan" knitwear was made possible through our collaboration with a manufacturer in Gosen City, Niigata Prefecture, which has preserved its craftsmanship and earned itself the nickname "knit town."

This knitwear is crafted from two distinctive materials: a linen yarn of European origin, processed using a special dyeing technique that leaves the interior of each single yarn strand white, and an untreated wool sourced from sheep that are intermediate between mature sheep and lambs.
The knitting was carried out in Gosen City, Niigata Prefecture, producing a knit that is authentically Made in Japan.
Unlike shrink-resistant wool, untreated wool retains its natural scales, which repel larger water droplets while absorbing finer water vapor. This absorption generates heat, thereby preserving the wool’s intrinsic properties of moisture regulation and temperature control—functions that reduce sweat retention and minimize post-perspiration chill.
By applying the plating technique, this functional wool is knitted on the reverse side of the fabric. This method not only highlights the blended texture of linen and wool but also ensures that the wool remains in close contact with the skin. As a result, the knitwear offers not only warmth but also effective humidity management.
