An exclusive collaboration featuring “KIGI”, led by visionary designers Ryosuke Uehara and Yoshie Watanabe. Known for their boundless creativity and exceptional artistic talents, KIGI’s diverse portfolio encompasses art direction, branding, textile design, product design, graphic design, and more.

The “KUSHA” series is derived from the Japanese word for wrinkles and is designed to express the beauty of fabric when worn. During a business trip, Mr. Uehara suggested the idea of creating clothing that can be handled easily without worrying about wrinkles. In order to achieve this, we deliberately added wrinkles to the fabric at the production stage, so that you can use it without being concerned about wrinkles when wearing it.

Based on the design of a knit bolero, one of KIGI’s beloved items, this piece has an elasticated cuffs and hem that makes it easy to wear while transforming the fabric design. Features a self-tie ribbon on the front with a dolman sleeve which provides room around the arms, for an overall relaxed and comfortable look. The main body is crafted using our sustainable UpcycleLino fabric with a natural nep texture and a vintage-like appearance achieved from uneven thickness of the upcycled yarns. The garment is finished using a catch-washer processing by traditional manufacturers in Shiga prefecture, allowing for various levels of fading and worn-out effects. We do not use any resin or chemicals, instead, we treat the fabric with heat setting to maintain the wrinkles.

・Soft and dry touch.
・Relaxed, comfortable fit.
・Lightweight.
・Front self-tie ribbon closure.
・Voluminous dolman sleeve.
・Elasticated rib cuffs and hem
・Wrinkled effect achieved from catch washer finish.
・Approximate weight: 236g.

Model's Height: 160 cm, 5'2.9”.

PLEASE NOTE :
*Applying strong pressure with a high-temperature iron may reduce the wrinkle effect.

Introducing UpcycleLino:

UpcycleLino is our trademark that encompasses our innovative range of yarns and fabrics, meticulously crafted from the fabric waste generated during our production process. Traditionally, a staggering 30% of fabric production goes to waste (often reaching 40% to 50%). However, with our upcycled yarns and fabrics, we can minimized waste to an astonishing 0%.

Dedicated to promoting sustainable circular fashion and committed to reducing our carbon footprint, we have ingeniously transformed our linen fabric waste into our original upcycled yarn. Our exclusive UpcycleLino yarn is skillfully woven from our discarded pure linen fabric scraps, combined with organic virgin cotton fiber. This unique blend results in a one-of-a-kind upcycled linen-cotton yarn.

Moreover, we employ this innovative upcycled yarn to create new fabrics, which serve as the foundation for our UpcycleLino clothing. Even after the upcycled garments have been produced, we remain steadfast in our mission to minimize waste. Consequently, any additional fabric waste generated is repurposed to create upcycled hangers. This holistic approach ensures that our sustainable circular fashion ethos is actualized, striving towards our goal of achieving "Full upcycle production = ZERO Waste."

In recognition of our unwavering commitment to sustainable circular fashion, we are honored to have been bestowed with the esteemed GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2021. This accolade not only acknowledges our industry-leading initiatives but also reaffirms our dedication to creating a more sustainable future.
