From CONFECT’s new Autumn Season release,
a distinctive KASURI pattern fabric from
the textile industry in Mitsuke City, Niigata Japan.

KASURI refers to the art of weaving fabric using pre-dyed yarns
to form unique patterns and expressions.
This traditional technique adds a fresh and unfamiliar touch
to Western clothing styles, introducing a distinct
Japanese craftsmanship element that sets it apart.

Fabric







There are several production regions for KASURI
But Niigata Prefecture, with its deep winter snow and
abundant water sources have contributed to
its reputation as a prominent production hub
since the Edo period.

The traditional textile that incorporates
the color expression known as Kasuri has been
passed down through generations in this region.









The fabric surface has undyed parts
creating intricate and irregular patterns.
The warp threads, consisting of eight strands bundled together,
run through the fabric, with occasional sections of the cotton
such as the light gray color has been left undyed,
resulting to a scattered and flickering effect.

The degree of dyeing varies greatly,
but only the bundled warp threads become Kasuri,
which is a unique pattern resembling vertical stripes
running through the fabric. On the other hand,
the weft threads are bundled into four strands
and woven into the fabric.











The dobby loom's complex weave creates
a fabric with desirable gaps between the yarns,
which offers a lightweight and breathable fabric.
This fabric feels cool and comfortable to wear,
has an unbelievably soft touch similar to knitwear,
offering a unique and enjoyable wearing experience.

A true SLOW MADE IN JAPAN garment
where traditional dyeing process
and weaving techniques are used,
which requires ample time
and exceptional craftsmanship.

The structure of the shirt is designed to minimize
overlapping of fabrics on the collar, placket, and shoulders
allowing you to directly feel the quality of the material.
The curved hemline detail adds a shirt-like nuance,
adorned with natural nut buttons and
a single chest patch pocket.
This versatile piece can be worn as a jacket or shirt,
offering a range of stylish options.

The vertical pattern of the Kasuri
creates a beautiful silhouette to the pants and
the no pleats detail adds a neat appearance around the waist.
This pair of wide straight pants have a clean front
without any tucks, while having a comfortable fit around
the hips without any excess fabric, allowing for a
