Our Story
In 2005, we at NEXT Co., Ltd, a company with a long-standing history of operating a sewing factory for apparel since 1950, made a decision to launch our own original brand. This decision came as a result of the recession caused by the shift in the apparel industry's production to China. The production costs were driven down due to the price competition in the industry. As the production locations transitioned to foreign countries with lower labor costs, the value of clothing itself decreased. Consequently, the wages at the production sites couldn't keep up, and the production areas became increasingly impoverished. In 2007, two years after the launch of our original women's brand, nest Robe, we introduced a coat for the Fall Winter season. At the time, linen was generally considered a spring/summer fabric. However, the heavyweight linen coat we created became a big hit. As customer requests for linen clothing increased, we listened to their voices, and nest Robe's items became more specialized in linen. Moreover, the brand's origins also lie in a style that combines dresses with men's jackets and leather shoes. Consequently, we launched a traditional-style men's brand called "CONFECT."
To break this negative spiral and stabilize the production sites, we made a commitment to consistently manage everything in-house, from planning to manufacturing and retail.
Thanks to our long-standing experience, we had accumulated know-how not only in sewing but also in pattern making and fabric sourcing, as well as design techniques. We had the expertise to create products that were unmatched in terms of quality and speed. We contemplated if high-quality products that could be worn for a long time would sell, leading us to establish "nest Robe" using delicate techniques and materials found only in Japan. The first few stores were opened in Aoyama, Jiyugaoka, and Kichijoji.
During the recession, there was a belief that even if high-quality clothing was created, it wouldn't sell. But now, we are able to provide reasonably priced and valuable garments with a strong focus on comfort. This is made possible thanks to our factory brand that consistently manages everything, from planning to sales. We firmly believe that the value and quality of our products are appreciated and recognized by all our customers.
Currently we operate in 15 retail locations across Japan, complimented with two online stores catering to both domestic and international shoppers.
